OpenAI just announced they’re scaling up Stargate—their big compute infrastructure play—to handle the kind of workloads that AGI will demand. The headline is that they’re adding more data center capacity to meet growing AI demand. But if you’ve been paying attention, this is less surprising and more of a confirmation of where things are headed.
Stargate isn’t new. OpenAI has been quietly building out this infrastructure for a while, but the scale of what they’re talking about now is genuinely different.
